Why Choose St. Peter Kindergarten?
When you're selecting a kindergarten, you want to know your child is in the right hands. Here's what sets St. Peter apart:
Small Class Sizes
We cap our kindergarten classes at 20 students maximum. This means your child gets the attention, mentoring, and individualized instruction that research shows makes a real difference in early learning.
Experienced, Qualified Teacher Leadership
Your kindergarten lead teacher, Karla Balduc, holds a Master's degree in education with a specialization in reading and brings 25+ years of classroom experience. She currently teaches our Pre-K 4 program and understands the developmental needs of young learners.
Brand New, State-of-the-Art Facility
Our new building features eight oversized classrooms (900 square feet each), a full gymnasium, and a commercial kitchen. Every space is designed with your child's learning and safety in mind. We're targeting completion in July 2026.
Christ-Centered Education
At St. Peter, we develop the whole child through our "Scholars, Servants, Saints" approach. Students grow academically, develop servant hearts through meaningful service, and deepen their faith through daily spiritual formation. This isn't just education—it's discipleship.
What Your Child Will Experience
The School Day
Our core kindergarten day runs from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, built on a comprehensive curriculum that balances academics, creative expression, and character development. We use proven curricula including HMH and IXL for language arts, Amplify Math, Nancy Larson Science, and Enduring Faith for spiritual formation.
Your kindergartener will experience a blend of structured learning, creative play, group activities, and one-on-one instruction—all designed to meet children where they are developmentally and help them thrive.
Extended Care Options Available
We understand families have busy schedules. Before care begins at 7:00 AM, and after care extends until 5:00 PM, giving you flexibility without compromising your child's learning experience.

Meet Your Kindergarten Teacher
Karla Balduc
Karla brings a Master's degree in education with a specialization in reading and more than 25 years of classroom experience to your child's kindergarten journey. She's currently teaching our Pre-K 4 program, where families consistently praise her warmth, patience, and ability to help young learners grow confident and curious.
Karla believes that kindergarten is about building a love of learning, not just teaching skills. She creates a classroom where children feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and discover their own potential. With her expertise and genuine care for each student, your child will thrive.
Nationally Recognized Accreditation
We're Not Just Any School—We're Accredited
St. Peter School holds accreditation from the National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA), representing more than 2,000 quality schools across the United States. This accreditation is recognized by the State of Texas and is what enables our participation in the Texas Education Freedom Accounts voucher program.
Additionally, we are a Herzog Foundation Sponsored School, placing us among a select group of Lutheran schools committed to educational excellence and continuous improvement.
These credentials aren't just letters behind our name—they represent a commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous growth that matters when you're choosing where to invest your child's early education.
Kindergarten Readiness: What We Look For
Does Your Child Have These Kindergarten Skills?
We're looking for developmental readiness, not perfection. Children entering kindergarten at St. Peter should ideally demonstrate:
- ✓ Ability to follow simple directions
- ✓ Ease separating from parents during the school day
- ✓ Recognition of some letters and numbers
- ✓ Independent bathroom use
- ✓ Ability to write or attempt their name
- ✓ Ability to count to 10
- ✓ Ability to listen to stories and speak in sentences
- ✓ Use of scissors and ability to hold a pencil or crayon appropriately
- ✓ Ability to play and interact appropriately with peers
If your child is close on some of these skills, that's completely normal. We work with each child to build confidence and competence.
